KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved 20 contracts worth 5.5 billion afghanis, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Sunday. PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Security officials from Afghanistan and Pakistan have failed to reach any agreement on reopening the Chaman border crossing. Pakistan closed the border after an attack on the Friendship Gate by Afghan nationals on Friday. Pakistan's national flag was also torched. A flag meeting, requested by the Afghan govement, on reopening the gate fizzled out on Saturday afteoon when the two sides adopted strict security measures. KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Mullah Abdul Rauf Arafi has been appointed as new leader of a Taliban splinter group, led by Mullah Rasoul, the group’s spokesman Mullah Abdul Rahman Niazi said on Saturday.
